Mai Ake Thai Restaurant

Mai Ake Thai in buzzing North Hobart is Thai-owned and the food served is reassuringly authentic, from the steaming jasmine rice through to the choo chee koong, the sweetest of Thai curries. If you're a Hobart-dweller still questioning what Thai food is all about, go for the choo chee, pad see eew (a sweet noodle stir-fry) or prawns with cashews as mild but moreish introductions. The menu is child-friendly with vegetarian options and the restaurant is sophisticated in food and decor. Look for the black and white sign just up from Tasma Street.
